1. Get the ball rolling on interviews for the co-op technical writer position
2. Load Evergreen 1.4 on Comet with Opensrf 1.0.0
3. Load holdings on Comet

Dan Scott
For the rest of the week, plans to:

1. Introduce Ron Slater (chair of our unit who is going to co-ordinate groups for feedback here) to Anne and Cathy, and get them to nail down dates
2. Contact our potential initial trainer to give a heads up

This site was under the weather recently - thanks to John Fink for putting in some late night Drupal-fixing time.

A reminder that next week is Access 2008, so things will be relatively quiet here. Dan plans to submit a few Evergreen-related Hackfest challenges, and there will undoubtedly be impromptu Conifer meetings and an Evergreen birds-of-a-feather session. Oh yes, and John and Dan will be doing a little talk on Conifer on Friday.

... is still on strike.

... has been on strike, along with the rest of the faculty and librarians at the University of Windsor, since September 17th. We hope the issues can be resolved swiftly.

• Duplicate barcodes
  • Found no duplicate item barcodes between the Laurentian consortium and McMaster, although we still need the item barcodes for Windsor to be absolutely sure we're in the clear.

Long time, no update. Sorry about that, folks.

Project resources update
First, the bad news... one of our contractors (Michael G.) has found that the time commitment is too much to add onto his full-time job, so he will be withdrawing from the project after handing off his deliverables. He will work to make it a smooth transition, and he wishes us success on our project.

• Support contract and migration contract negotiations continue; will talk on Monday with Equinox again.
• Wrote up Evergreen staff client installation instructions for Comet and forwarded to Art and John.
• Will ask Michael to coordinate between Bill and Henk-Jan for EDI translation

• Still struggling with Voyager outage problems and finding a short-term stable catalogue solution.

Dan Scott

• "Stable trunk" environment is running at http://comet.cs.uoguelph.ca/ with a few to-dos remaining:
  • Database is a straight dump and load of the slightly older dwarf/darkmatter database, so a few parts of the database schema need to be updated
  • Working:
    • Cataloging functions (create new MARC record; import from Z39.50; holdings maintenance)
    • OPAC (albeit no holdings, so transcendent bib records only)

Art Rhyno

• Art has been snarled in Voyager problems this week - 3 crashes, with a possible change of servers
• Kevin S. may be available for documentation
• Art and Dan need to follow up on technical writing program co-op possibilities
• Art and Ken need to follow up on logo design contest with their design departments
• Art will forward links to Windsor's recent orders for Comp Sci and Kinesiology to try and help lighten Dan's collection development load
